Serial Number Prefixes for Oman

The bank notes of Oman exclusively use 'Series letters' for their prefixes. All denominations in the first series of banknotes (Sultanate of Muscat & Oman) start with ١/ا and continue as ٤/ا ,٣/ا ,٢/ا, et cetera. For thesecond series (Oman Currency Board), all denominations start with ١/ب and continue as ٤/ب ,٣/ب ,٢/ب, et cetera.

The same style is continued in the three issues of the Central Bank of Oman. However, the sequence starts again, using the 'numeric' sequence. The sequence used for each series is shown in the chart below.
