First issued — 5 Ramadan 1428 (17 September 2007).
Size — 166 mm x 74 mm.
Signatures — (8) Hamad Saud al-Sayyari (Governor of SAMA) and Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al-Assaf (Minister of Finance).
Watermark — Portrait of King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahaman al Saud; corner watermarks; and denomination (as an electrotype watermark).
Security thread — Solid windowed thread (surfacing in the back of the note) with the '500' written in Latin and Arabic characters, all within plaited lines (three plaited lines on either side of the text). An incised foil strip is on the front of the note, with iridescent patterns of the denomination and the Saudia Arabian arms.
